Took this one this morning of M45. This was the picture at the 3 hour mark. I kept taking for another hour then realized at some point in that last hour it went behind a tree.
Great image!
Been there. Done that.
I was at Windsurfer one evening with a couple of smart scopes, and realized there had been nothing on my screens for some time. I looked up and found fog had formed just feet above my head. I had no idea how long it had been there.
Since then I make a point of periodically looking at, and enjoying the wonder of, the night sky. Yes, imaging the wonders of the universe is nice, but stopping to just look up and enjoy it is equally important!
That’s harder in the winter, where I set up my scopes in my backyard, then run them from my dining area.
Took these last night. Had a little bit of wind and poor seeing. The Moon picture is a stack from a 10 minute video. This is the first time I tried this on the S50. It was low and getting ready to go behind a tree. I also connected to the S50 using remote control, while having lunch 18 miles away, to see the progress of the Moon stacking.
Interesting about the remote bit. Those all look wonderful ![]()

Have you heard of the Lunar X and V? I may have discovered the Lunar S in this picture from last night.
Dave,
Nice! I found the ’S’
Tim
Yea last night was great. Really clear skies and no wind. Did this one of IC342 Hidden Galaxy. EQ mode 20 second subs no dropped frames.
Nice!
Or, we Okie’s might call it the “Lazy S.”
What a lovely image
How much integration time
It’s about 20hrs of 20s exposures. I collected more than that but used subframe selector in Pixinsight to keep just the best data.
