OCCC Astronomy Club Observation Nights

OCCC Astronomy Club is inviting Oklahoma City Astronomy Club to an observation night on our campus. This will be our very first one. Most attendees will be novices. (Heck, I’ve been in the club a year and a half, and I’m still a novice.)
We do have 3 scopes from the school which we are all learning how to use. I will also have my Seestar and my binoculars.
We would very much appreciate your attendance and willingness to let people experience different scopes and ask question.

Thanks you so much
Bobie

Great! I plan to be there. I’m trying to get a couple others to help out. I’ll bring my eVscope 2 and maybe my Vespera.

Sorry for the slow response. I’m still unpacking and recovering/cleaning/organizing from Okie-Tex.

I’m currently making plans for being there as well :+1:

I’d like one or two more members to come out to support a brand new astronomy club in OKC. Can anyone else bring a scope and help them out on their first meeting? Or even just come out without equipment and answer questions and help out?

Count me in for future events. Southmoore Homecoming is that night so I cannot attend.

I’m planning on coming out. Will bring my Seestar S50. Will also bring my eyepiece case. Will have my laser pointer.

The Moon rises at 4:51pm and Sunset is at 7:12pm. Saturn rises at 6:48pm with Neptune very close by.

That is okay! We may have another observation night in November. OKC club members are welcome to come to either.

Thank you so much! I will be at the campus at around 6 and start setting up around 6:30, if you need to come a little earlier to set up before sunset.

This event has been added to the International Observe the Moon Night official website. We should have great views of the Moon and Saturn. I’m thinking about bringing out my 8” EdgeHD haven’t used it in awhile.

We have an 8" nexstar, an 8" edge hd(I believe), and a 10 inch dob.

Which side of the building are we on? Is there parking nearby?

If you click on the link, it should show a marker right where we will be. We will be South side of the campus. The x in the picture is the field. You can come in where the circle is. There is parking by the John Massey center.

Im a dense individual and im not fully understnding how or where to go on campus. the google link is nmot accurate and the image you gave does not have an X, nor does it reference the John Massey center.

Just guessing from all my clues, I think this is the feild in question.

The Google link should take you directly to the area in your maps. I posted the wrong picture.

The google link you have in your first post takes me east of Pennsylvania on 81st. If I click on the link on the calendar on the NSN website, it takes me to the south side of the John Massy Center.

Gotcha, thanks! :vulcan_salute:

When I click on it it takes me to 81st street and May where the John Massey center is on campus.

Arg, just twisted my ankle while loading equipment. I may still be able to make it tonight, but I doubt I’ll be bringing my scope. We shall see.

I hate it when I do that…

Oh no! If you need any help with carrying anything, my significant other is here. But also, we appreciate any help! We’ll have 3 scopes out, 2 of which we need help learning our way around. So if you don’t have a scope, that’s totally okay. But take care of yourself.
