I’m monitoring the weather station readings at CRO (inside the building). The readout says it’s raining cats & dogs (lower right corner of photo), but I haven’t seen any make it to the ground
Bill just informed us he’s going to leave before sunset due to the storm hitting him right now. That storm came in fast! It was pretty nice when Joel and I left about 1500.
As no one has posted they’re planning on going out, i’ve canceled tonight’s AMN on the calendar.
Hopefully we’ll have better weather next week! The long range forecast is promising.
As much as I want to stay out here tonight, it will be better to CANCEL ALL MEMBERS NIGHT for July 11, 2026
Let’s play it safe and meet up July 18, 2026 … weather permitting
CRO is CLOSED
Eli and I are planning for next week, hope we get a break with the weather!
The next OKCAC All Member night at CRO is Saturday, Jul 18th.
Sunset is at 8:49pm and the Moon sets at 11:34p. Jupiter and Venus will be up. I may try to make it out to this one.
If you’re planning to come out, please post on here that you are going.
I plan to come out.
Not sure of my eta yet.
Just checked the forecast. It’s deteriorated a lot over the last couple days. It now looks like there may be thunderstorms around sunset.
This may change, as it has already changed a lot. But PLEASE check here before you leave home to ensure that CRO will be open when you get there!
We should have a go/nogo decision by at least 1800 (6:00pm) tomorrow, if not before.
Great news! Again the forecast has drastically changed! It’s supposed to clear up at sunset at CRO and be clear tonight! With moderate winds and warm temps, it should be a great evening for viewing!
Eli and I are thinking about coming out tonight. Will anyone be there who has experience with the ASIAIR app? I’m hoping for a little help getting my AT80ED refractor, AM5 mount, and EAF up and running. I’ve been struggling and suspect I’m probably making some classic newbie mistakes. I’d really appreciate any guidance!
I’m planning on coming out. Bringing my S30 Pro to try out the latest update. I have never used the ASIAIR app. I’m sure we can find something on YouTube to help get it going. I was looking at some video’s on the AM5 mount.
Thank you, Dave!
CRO is open. Doing mowing and trimming now.
Planing on being there tonight for possible milkyway shots with a friend from the oklahoma camera club, Trina. Mom and Dad should be coming too.
Hi, I’m new here, I was at the meeting on the 10th and am hoping to head out to CRO tonight. I bought an 8" dobsonian and a book to learn stargazing, but I’m a total novice, I don’t really know anything. I’m excited to learn though.
Hey Kyle! Welcome!
I’m hoping the latest forecasts are accurate and we have clear skies at sunset. I’m sure there will be folks her who can help you if you need it. See you soon!
FYI, CRO is open and will stay open, so folks can come out any time. sunset is 2049, so viewing should be great by about 2115..
I am planning to come out to CRO tonight to meet new members and provide what assistance I can.
I’ll be bringing my binoculars and lawn chair to enjoy the facility and dark skies (and freshly trimmed lawn) on a breezy, warm summer evening.
I’ll be stopping at Swadley’s in El Reno for a brief dinner at 7pm. If you’d like to join me and then follow out to CRO before sunset, I’ll be wearing a gray club t-shirt.
@KyleW, Welcome! If convenient, meet me at Swadley’s in El Reno on your way out to CRO. It will be my treat!
Hi Tom! That sounds good to me if the timing works out for you. I was planning on being at CRO around 8:30 which would put me in El Reno around 8, but I’m about 30 minutes out from El Reno, I could head that way in a few minutes.
Oh just saw your other comment, so I’ll be out there too late - no problem!
