I was informed several years ago that non-members spotted the location of CRO via Google Earth by spotting the domes.
Since that time, the location is accurate is both Apple Maps and Google Maps, when you search for Cheddar Ranch Observatory. There were two locations in Google Maps, one near American Horse Lake, that someone put in to attempt to confuse people as to the location. All that did was get new or potential club members that had never been to CRO before, lost. I managed to kill that second location in Google Maps, but there’s still a second location for CRO in MapQuest. It says CRO is in Watonga. Again, all this is accomplishing is getting new folks, who we want to come to CRO, lost.
I cannot kill that second location in MapQuest. Whoever entered that second location in MapQuest, please ask them to delete it!
The cat is out of the bag. We can no longer hide the location of CRO. All these alternate locations do is get new club members and potential club members, lost.
If you entered a second location for CRO, in any of the map apps, it’s time to delete it. We cannot hide the location anymore, if we ever did.
