Telescope Recommendations

Hi guys! The math lab that I tutor in is getting a grant and we are going to buy some telescopes. The budget is $5,000, but that’s not hard stop. My boss would like to get at least 2. Any recommendations for what we should buy that won’t be too difficult and worth the money?

What type of scopes are you looking at getting? Optical? Smart Scopes? Manual? Go to? It’s hard to make recommendations without more info.

My manager is brand new, but I guess that was part of my question. I recommended Celestron and go-to.

What is he planning on doing with it?

Our new Dean is an Astrophysicist and she wants our lab to branch out more. The scope was her idea. So these are going to be for the school where if he wanted to do an event or if we end up having a club later, they can be used. He wants multiple in case he has a slightly larger group. He would like to do 2 of good quality, probably go-tos. Then we may get a 500$ Seestar as well.

A Celestron Origin ($4000) for unequaled Smart Telescope performance, a ZWO Seestar S50 ($550), and a ZWO Seestar S30 ($350), for portability and very good performance for their size. These are pre-tariff prices. Hopefully, they’ll be exempt.

I have a used Celestron 5SE I was hoping to donate to students. I have several lenses, filters, a Wi-Fi connector for your phone that go with it. Please let me know if this would be helpful. I wanted to donate it to students so I wouldn’t want any money.

Hello! I am an Astrophysics student in college. I could actually use a telescope like this. I am working with my manager and dean to start an Astronomy club for my college. It would help me practice with that type of scope and provide an extra scope for me to bring when we do events. I don’t know if college students are what you were thinking of. Ha.

That would be perfect! How should I get the device to you?
