A post was merged into an existing topic: Impromtu Viewing Events

@DaveNH6SM … Do you have any updates on the Quarterly Novice Session 23 May 2026 from 7:30pm-10:30pm at Lake Hefner, Windsurfer’s Point?

I will not be available to run this event. If someone can take charge of this event and make the call of if is a go or no go.

The forecast is for clouds, with light winds and warm temps. If you come out though, I recommend you have a light jacket handy.

I will be there for this. Unless it rains. I’ll only cancel for rain, though.

Even if cloudy we can help folks with setting up and using their scopes!

If you’re planning on coming and need assistance, please post on here what equipment, and what you need help with. That will allow me to do some research on your scope if I need to.

The forecast has IMPROVED! Wow. If you don’t like the weather in Oklahoma, wait 5 minutes and it’ll change. I think I heard someone fairly famous said that a long time ago. It’s still true today.

Some of my apps say it will be clear this evening, others are saying maybe a few clouds. Wind and temperature will be great, too. So we might be able to get some good viewing in, besides working on any problems that folks are having with their scopes.

I plan to get to Windsurfer Point between 1900-1930 (7-7:30pm). I’ll have the club sign up where I’m able to set up. I’ll stay as late as any one needs assistance with their equipment!

Since no one has posted they’re going to be coming out tongiht, I’ll wait until at least sunset, 2035, but if no one has shown up by then, I’ll leave about then.

I have 4 smart scopes. The Unistellar eVscope 2, the Unistellar Odyssey, the Vaonis Vespera Pro, and the Celestron Origin. If anyone wantst to see one of these in particular, let me know and I’ll bring it. Other wise I’ll probaby bring the Odyssey, as it’s my grab and go scope.

Well, it turned out to be a really pleasant evening at Windsurfer! Clear, mild winds and short sleeve shirt weather.

I’m also glad that no one in our club is having any problems with their gear! Seriously, we didn’t have anyone arrive with any problems, but we did draw attention and had a lot of folks at Windsurfer who indicated interest in astronomy and our club.

Thanks to Marv, Joel, Bill, and Gerald for coming out to help folks! Even if all we did was tell tall tales to each other.
