Very easy to post pictures here! Which is a plus!

Yes. MUCH easier than the current forum. My biggest problem is my computer. I have used Windows for decades but finally went over to the dark side and got a MacBook Pro. Still learning how to find things on it.

I really like that it automatically resizes the picture to fit the width. And if it’s different from the original, you have the option to download the original size. Even when I did manage to post images on the current forum it was a trick to get it to the width I wanted.

I am just checking to see how easy it is.

Double checking how hard it is to post images.

I like the way the images do not overflow the page, regardless of sizes. Then clicking on the images to see the full size is as easy.

Here are the results of my attempt to capture the occultation of (28254) Raghrama at 0306 May 17. Unfortunately the results were negative. But testing posting things, and this is current.

Okay. Learned something. Can’t upload videos. Oh well.

I have two videos with results from the attempt, but can’t upload them.

I don’t know if this is a solution or not:

Videos will definitely run into storage space issues if we allow that. It’s possible with plugins but it’s not something I really want to turn on. At least, not yet. I’m open to discussing it.

LOL, that was a result of my typically not sleeping. Didn’t think we would really, it does take up a lot of space. But if the videos are stored at YouTube or Vimeo and it is just a link on the post with a preview of video, then that storage requirement would be greatly reduced. I honestly don’t know how the two video services work and if they cast anything. Of course I am pulling a Shultz, because I have zero clue about how to manage it on the backside and if it is worth the trouble!

I personally greatly respect your efforts in this and thank you!

Yep. Storage requirements might be sky high if we allow posting of video files. Not a requirement to me, but something I wanted to test.

I think vBulletin and MyBB are possible alternatives to Discourse, but frankly, this seems to be working well. Almost all the different forums will meet our basic needs. One reason I’m focused on ease of posting images.

Security is the other big issues, but am I right that whatever we choose will be on a secure site? As I understand it, that means it will be https:// in the address. Others are saying that may be reason we’re having login problems now. I don’t know the server side of things.

Danny, unless there are some advantages to vBulletin or MyBB that I’m not seeing, I recommend we recommend to the board that we flesh out Discourse and do the official switch soon.
