The Perseids are one of the brighter meteor showers of the year. They occur every year between July 17 and August 24 and tend to peak around August 9-13. It is a New Moon on Aug 12th so this should be a good one.

Bottom line - this year it peaks during a New Moon:
"New Moon (with an eclipse) last occurred on August 12th in 1942, and won’t happen again until 2045, though New Moons (or any given phase) repeat on a given date every 19 years in what’s known as the Metonic cycle. "
