I plan on driving in from CO on my way to Houston and set up for a couple nights. Will try to set up my rig close to club peeps, however, I’ll be in a car and will spend the night at a local hotel with my wife. Will a rig be fairly safe from getting knocked over if it is out of the road and I’ve brought it to the attention of club members or would it be necessary to stake out a perimeter around it in case people are walking though in the dark?
Your gear should be fine. I’d put a tarp over it, but as long as it’s out of the roadway, no one will run over it. Several folks set up their gear on the field, then stay off site. If you plan on leaving in the middle of the night, however, you’ll need to park outside the gate, facing away from the field, so your headlights don’t shine on the field when you leave. No white light is allowed on the field after 2100, except for emergencies of course.
Thanks. Understood about dark site etiquette. Have been to a few dark sites and know and appreciate the rules about cars leaving and using red flashlights/headlights instead of white.
Great! I think you’ll love Okie-Tex. Come by where the OKCAC usually sets up, go pretty much straight out the door of the mess hall and cross the road to find us, and say hi when you get there!
