New (potential) member question

Howdy. I was considering coming to a meeting and/or viewing to see what the club is about. I know very little about astrophotography, but I do own a telescope (I’ve no clue how to properly operate! lol).

My questions are probably answered (sorry) but I have tried searching and just not finding my answer.

Two main questions:

  1. Are there any age restrictions? Is 9yr old too young?
  2. Do I need a science museum membership to attend the monthly meeting?

Thanks!
Chad

The answer to both questions is no. Here’s our membership page.

Thank you very much! Hopefully I’ll be able to attend an event soon!

Hey, Chad! You would be very welcome. About half of the club members are into astrophotography and the other half (like me) only have a telescope. But even having only an interest is enough to get started.

Drop us another note if you DO plan to attend a club meeting so that we can be certain to greet and welcome you.

Tom

I was going to go to Paseo tonight weather permitting, but, it’s looking like weather did not permit!

Assuming next Friday’s meeting is open to guests I will do my best to be there. Since it has a special planetarium presentation it said members only on the calendar. I may not know until next Thursday, sadly, since I’d need to get a baseball practice re-scheduled due to time conflict.

Hey Chad! Yes, I’ve canceled the events at both Paseo and Arbor Gardens Park tonight. Forecasts are for partly cloudy and very strong winds. Plus there’s now a Tornado Watch for Oklahoma County until 10pm.

The forecast for tomorrow is looking great, so we’re going to do a First Friday on Saturday Public Viewing Event tomorrow evening at Arbor Gardens Park in Moore. You’re welcome to come to that. I’m not sure what’s going on with the meeting next week, but generally we always welcome visitors to all our events.
