Need Suggestions for a Solar Scope

I am in contact with the Martin Park Nature Center which will be hosting a solar viewing program this summer. They have a $4000 budget to buy a dedicated solar scope and are particularly looking at Lunt. I don’t have a lot of solar experience so I welcome suggestions from those of you with broader experience.

The only ones I’ve used are the Coronado PST & the Sunspotters. Because the Company that made the Coronado is now out of business, I’d like to see the Lunt in operation first.

Are we going to have a solar viewing event at Martin Park? We could bring out several solar telescopes for them to look so they could make a better decision of what they like. The Club has a nice 60mm not sure if that model is available anymore. I have a 50mm that they still carry at Astronomics. We should have other members that have other models that they could bring out. I’ve been looking at several stores and they don’t seem to have many in stock. Astronomics doesn’t currently have any in stock. Here is a link to a new one that someone just bought and he has posted some pictures from it that look really good.

The park has asked us to assist them with solar viewing Sunday afternoons in July and August and they want their own scope to keep on site. The park closes at 8:00pm in the warm months so no observing beyond the sun.
