Lunar Occultation of Antares

August 24, 2023 there was a Lunar occultation of Antares at 9:24 PM - 10:28 PM central time. I decided that would be unique object to image. I setup at my home near Skiatook, and took multiple images as it progressed. I took the images and combined them into a gif. Hopefully I will be able to post this? I have not posted anything on the discourse yet. Please bare with me if this doesn’t work. If it works it should show the star Antares at the upper left moving behind the moon and emerging at the Lower left. It is not the actual timeframe of the event, just multiple images stacked in photoshop and converted to a gif file.
Equipment used: Canon 70D Canon EF 100-400mm F/4.5-5.6L IS II
Mount Skywatcher Star Adventurer GTi

  •* I have modified the original post. The gif is in the reverse order. It was brought to my attention by a expert observer. I modified the gif and replaced the original gif. Sorry about the mistake.

Thanks…

Very cool, well done :+1:

Thanks Andy,
It was a last minute decision and not well thought out. If I ever try it again I will take all exposure at a specific timed interval. It was fun experience and enjoyed watching it also with my binoculars.

Wow, it’s really cool seeing the relative motion of the Moon to the rest of the stars like this. Nice work, Stan!
