Interstellar Object 3I/ATLAS aka C/2025 N1 ATLAS

Stan,

Lovely image. Well done. I had my own issues and was only able to squeak out 14 images (over 45 minutes) for my animation posted over in the Astrophotography section.

On my science observation report, the predicted magnitude, on Saturday, was 16.3. But the measured magnitude was 13.5. Not sure why the big difference. But at 13.5, it should be visible in most scopes. Of course visually it’s very difficult to see. But multiple images should detect it easily.

HI Mitche,

I used ASTAP to measure 3I’s magnitude as Vmag 14.5 on Friday night, January 10th (morning January 11 UT).

BTW, the Minor Planet Center predicted Vmag of 14.1 for morning of January 11th UT.
