The OKCAC will be supproting a homeschooling group with their Astronomy Education module. There will be about 30 kids and 25-30 adults attending. This even will be at Little River Park, 700 SW 4th St, Moore, OK 73160, on Friday, November 14, 2025, at 7:00 - 9:00pm.
We would like to have several OKCAC club members there with telescopes, binoculars, planispheres, apps, or just your presence to help these kids learn about the universe. Please post here if you will be able to assist with this event!
I think we had a very successful event last evening! We had about 25 kids of all ages, and about a dozen parents from the homeschooling group there. Some of the kids were very interested in astronomy, as were the parents.
Thank you to Andy Overman, who organized the event, Jim Day and Gerald Taylor for supporting this event and for being flexible on the last minute change of venue!
We had 5 smart scopes and 1 visual telescope running, and Gerald ran a great slide show of images of the aurora and other images, as well as assisting one of the parnets with his Celestron 8" scope he had there. Jim Day had some new equipment there. He’s now able to print “polaroids” (for those of you who know what those are) of images he took that evening and hand them out to folks. That’s a great addition to astronomy outreach!
And thank you to the homeschooling group for inviting us to particpate and for the refreshments!
