First time Okie-Tex question about check-in and parking

Hello! I’m excited about attending my first star party, but unfortunately I am only able to attend a couple of nights this year.

My first question involves checking in. I preregistered, but do I also need to check-in at the registration desk? I might not arrive until after 6p Saturday but before gates close at 9p. I see the desk closes at 5:30p, so I may not arrive in time for that.

Also, my understanding is that guests who need to leave in the middle of the night must park outside of the gate with headlights facing away from the field. Will this be obvious or will there be helpers to ensure I do it correctly? Is there a designated spot inside the gate for members of the OKC astronomy club? I only have two cameras and a star tracker, so I’m hoping to set up somewhere out of the way.

You can just check in the next day after you get there. Parking is pretty obvious there is a sign that says no white lights beyond this point. Just park on the shoulder North of that sign. There may already others parked in that area. You can setup anywhere you want. Many of the OKCAC club members setup at the South end of the field on the East side of the entrance road. Mitch usually has a Club sign next to his site.
