Excellent article, thanks for sharing. And if I may follow up, below is a link to a great podcast interview released yesterday (Thursday September 11th) by John Michael Godier with Dr. Steven Benner, a chemist with a strong background in abiogenesis research.
This is an exciting development, and yet another piece of evidence building towards the likely conclusion that the universe teams with microbial life. I spent many years in cellular and molecular biology research, and I love the topics of prebiotic chemistry and abiogenesis. They tie closely into cosmology, nucleosynthesis, and planetary science to gain an understanding of where and why life is likely to emerge. And they all rely heavily on astronomy.
