Comets from my Backyard

I set up my Origin in my backyard after the Christmas Party. No Wind!

I did a bunch of science observations with my Odyssey, but decided to also set up my Origin to see if I could get C/2025 N1 (3I Atlas). I got it. Not the world’s best shot of it, but I’m glad I finally managed to get a halfway decent shot of it before it leaves us.

While I was waiting for N1 to rise, I also got C/2025 R2 (SWAN). Very dim, but it’s there.

I tried to get C/2025 K1 (ATLAS), but I can’t see a comet in it. I’m posting it to see if any of you can spot it.

No post processing on any of them.

I think last night was the best it gets in Oklahoma. I was seeing the Milky Way for the first time in a long time from my house.

Here is the comet C2025 K1 (ATKAS). If you zoom in you can see just a hint of a tail.

Ahah! Thanks! I was concentrating on the center and completley missed it!

Glad to help. I went to https://www.heavens-above.com and looked at their star chart and showed where it was and you had it, of course.

I think you, or someone, has referenced this before. Looking at it, I’m not sure how to use it. Sometime after your presidency ends, and you’ve got time again, maybe you can guide me through it while warming up at CRO or something.

Go to heavens-above.com down left side under Astronomy click on comets link - click on c/2025 K1 ATLAS link to see star chart. Under the header on this page you can set your date and time and click update. Hope that helps.

Thanks! I’ll try it tonight.

Was out in my backyard again last night and captured C/2025 N1 (3I ATLAS) with my eVscope 2.

Another image of 3I ATLAS I got last night, near it’s closest approach to the Earth:

For the lastest on 3I ATLAS, see:
