Comet C/2023 A3 (Tsuchinshan-ATLAS)

It’s starting to fade. Fast. If you haven’t seen it yet, get out with some binocs or a scope and see it now! Or just take a 3 sec time exposure with your phone camera. If you don’t have an app that can show you where it is, just point it west and take some pics until you see it,. It’s probably higher than you might think right now. But it will show up in a 3 sec shot.

See the shot above that I got from Texas. That was at the edge of the parking lot of the restaurant I had dinner at. Handheld. Newer phones should capture it with no problem.

But do it soon!

Hey Mitche, I thought I saw it with my unaided eye. Just got back from vacation so I’ll check tomorrow evening.

neat!

As stock cameras go, I have a Nikon d5600. I finally took it out to Lake Chickasha on Wednesday to see if I could find this comet that has been eluding me. I was pleasantly surprised - what I could not see by naked eye showed up clearly in the camera.

Very nicely done

I am currently in Eastern Oklahoma and got my tripod out to mount my Pixel 7 pro on. Took a bit but I managed to get a picture of it. This zoomed in and cropped from the original.

A nice article about Comet C/2023 A3 (Tsuchinan-Atlas). Sadly they did not include any of my images of it. Oh well.
