Astrophotography Image Processing in Pixinisight

Image processing is a deep topic and one that will vary depending on the type of software used. Yet there are basic tools which all software must provide in order to create quality results.

Here I have created three videos which take a step-by-step approach in the equipment used and processing techniques required to obtain a final image.

  1. All images (NB or OSC) must be properly calibrated. The procedure is defined in the first video: Pixinsight Image Calibration. Simply copy and paste the link into your browser to run the tutorial. https://youtu.be/vK7tO1rLT-Q

  2. The image musty be obtained. The Optolong Quadband Filter & Cygnus Wall tutorial provides an abbreviated look at this process from a camera, filter and reducer prospective. https://youtu.be/vK7tO1rLT-Q

  3. Here, a step-by-step tutorial is provided on the final processing of the image in Pixinsight. https://youtu.be/IKCvzFrv2WA

Note: This is NB data in the SHO pallet. But the steps will work for all Narrow Band images. (OSC requires a slightly different process.)

Again, to access any of the tutorials, simply copy and paste the video link into your browser and press enter to watch the video.

Thanks
