Arcadia Lake BioBlitz 2026: Solar, Lunar and Stargazing May 29th

Edmond’s Spring Creek Park is this year’s location for the 24-hour BioBlitz hosted by Edmond Parks and Recreation. The OKCAC has been invited to participate, and although the event is a nighttime wildlife observation event, the keyword is nighttime. For us that means stargazing, and an opportunity to introduce the night sky to the Spring Creek Park community.

The event hours are 4PM May 29th to 4PM May 30th.

Our telescope viewing schedule is from 4PM to Midnight.

May 29th: 3-4PM - Setup
May 29th: 4PM to Sunset - Solar Viewing
May 29th: 8PM to Midnight - Lunar Viewing
May 29th: 8:30pm to Midnight - Stargazing

A comfort canopy will be set up, so please bring your chair or Zero-G.

Dedicated solar telescopes are needed to view solar prominences. Dave will bring ours, and it would be great to have at least 3 available.

A selection of traditional and smart telescopes are needed. We’ll have a nearly full moon rising around 7:30PM so don’t forget those moon filters. Stepping stools are good to have for our younger visitors.

It’s early days so no worries if you cannot commit to this event now, just keep it in mind.

The attached map shows our setup location.
