35mm “Digital Milky Way Survey”
10-panel mosaic. 27,976 x 6,000
The full size is: 37,231 x 7,985 but Flickr wouldn’t let me upload a size that large, so I downsized it.
Stayed up all night to complete this in one go. 9:30 pm - 4:30 am, 9/30/24 - 10/1/24.
The way I did this was, I started on the far left panel first when it was dark enough, then I worked overhead toward Orion as the night went.
Each panel is 15, 2-minute, ISO-2500, F3.2 subs. I used my favorite 35mm prime lens for Astro, the Tamron SP 35mm f/1.4 Di USD Lens for Nikon F mount. The lens has absolutely no coma, and pinpoint stars across the full frame, but it does vignette, so that’s why I stopped down to F3.2.
