I did a lot of testing in the house. I got the timing working and the number of exposures that I could fit in the time of totality. Then I moved outside to do the iso, aperture and exposure lengths.
Not sure about how to do multiple cameras? I know in the Q&A of the video there was a lot of interest in using multiple cameras with EO. I am not sure how to do that. I don’t have any more USB ports on my computer so that is not an option for me.

Everyone says: DO NOT try and control two cameras at the same time with EO. Even in the Pro version, the creator doesn’t say it can do it without crashing. What I will be doing is two separate laptops and two separate instances of EO running two cameras on the same mount.

I’m still working on my setups… Here is what I have currently:

The sun at 1900mm focal length:

The sun at 500mm focal length:

I also plan to shoot it with a 50mm lens for more of a sky shot with stars and planets in the frame.

That is a good idea. That way you have full control over each camera.

Yep. Also, I’m trying to find a Mak or a 6"SCT to zoom me out to about 1500mm focal length for my zoomed-in camera. I’ll shoot it at 1900mm if I have to, but I’d like to zoom out just a touch.

Did a quick test today in my backyard. This is with a white solar filter, mono camera, Ha filter, and 25 quick subs stacked. This is cropped in, I can see some prominences, etc, looks like my alignment was not perfect either.

What was the duration of your subs?

(The spots look exactly like this live view from SOHO NASCOM

Very nice Andy, what type of camera and what were your settings?

Thanks…

The subs were very short, like .01 seconds, mono 2600mm pro, reducer on my refractor, shot with my Ha filter and glass white light solar filter. I basically pointed my night time imaging setup at the sun today and stuck a white light filter on it.

Here is one sub, .01 second, Ha filter mono, color brought out with curves in Photoshop. This is the uncropped field of view for 446mm focal length and APS-C sensor.

Andy,
Thanks for the information. I may have to give this a try with my ASI2600MC? I have a solar filter for it, but was too afraid to try it.
Thanks…

Man, I wish I had an assistant to pull off my filters so I can run over to another tracking mount and camera with a 50mm lens, Venus, Jupiter, Saturn Mars, and even M45 the Pleides will all be lined up. I could easily knock out a 2 or 3-panel mosaic of the dark eclipsed sky!!!

I know it’s early….
But I’m not seeing good forecast for Texas. I’m seeing showers and clouds along the path of totality. I’ll continue to check every day.
