Thank you all for your input. I have a LOT to say about all of this but as I said before I’m staying out of it so as not to bias anyone. I will try to articulate these pros and cons to the board tonight (I’m sure others will, as well).

Our board meeting was Tuesday night. We did manage, kind of, to talk about this. It’s hard to separate the forum from general website issues, so it got confusing and I’m pretty sure by the end everyone was frustrated. Mostly with me, I’m sure.
Anyway, I think our plan now is to start getting people over here and beginning a transition towards this platform. Will it last long-term? It should, but who knows. Do we have a choice? No, not really.
I’m going to spend some time getting this looking a little nicer and adding some things, like the swap shop. If there is any other feature, category or setting you’d like to see added, removed or change, now’s the time to let us know.

It was rough being up against the clock like that, needed about 15 more minutes, I guess, to dispel misunderstandings/confusion. But Bill ( I think) summed it up, ultimately. You understand better what needs to be done and what can or cannot be done.
Anyway maybe a heading for Astronomy in the News, for articles or papers?
Channel or page recommendations/ online resources? or does that have the potential to get contentious?

Looking forward to seeing all of your hard work! I, for one, really appreciate all of you in leadership for working on this, I know it is just a small portion of all the things going on, but it is a necessary thing to happen for for the overall club membership and getting more people to participate. [Hopefully!!!]

Today I made some tweaks. Some of you might have seen the theme change. If you really liked the other one, you can change it back (or to one of the others in there) in your Settigs. I also added the Swap area, got everything up to date, and did some other little things. I also sent the behind the scenes info for how all this works to Dave and Chris P, so if I get run over by a truck while looking for that perfect super moon viewing spot, someone else knows how to get into everything.
As to the content that goes on this thing, well that’s all up to you. If you want a news and articles area, we can try that out, but maybe that’s something that could just be a tag, like the Events are. But hey if that doesn’t work we can always add it later. It’s much harder to remove something then it is to add it (psychologically, not technically), so I would like to wait and see a bit more.
If you see anything that looks crazy or there’s a feature you really want to see, let me know.

The only thing I noticed is the change to the mobile view of “All Categories”, otherwise looking good! When looking at “All Categories”, the view is too scrunched up. But that is the only place it is like that, so I can get used to mobile app view really quick. Here are two screenshots for illustration. First is “All Categories” and the 2nd is “Topics”.
I noticed this too and have been looking for the right setting. There are A LOT of settings. Hopefully I can sort that out because I agree; it looks unprofessional.
Thanks, I appreciate the effort going into this. These things can be a lot to deal with at first. Get past this though and it will get a lot easier.

I think that’s a little better but I was hoping I could only change it on the mobile. I’m going to ponder this one.
I had to close and refresh my app before it picked the changes, but I think that could grow on me.
