Nice event at Martin Park today, despite the heat. Mitche, Bill, Jeremy and myself were just busy enough to keep it interesting and rewarding. Jared Liddel, former club member, spent the entire 2 hours with us getting back into the hobby.
The Park added a big overhead canopy and a large fan was blowing. Staff brought us water and salty snacks. Attendance at the park was down from last week understandably due to the heat. I didn’t get a count from the park, but I’d say we had 20 folks look through four telescopes. Children included.
There’ll be more photos, but I took a couple relaxing in the shade, near the big fan.
Had a good time. Didn’t think to take a pic of the venue (I often forget to do that) so am glad others did so. But I did remember to snap an image of the sun before my iPad over heated and shut down. Hard to get a precise focus on sunspots.
Got a much better image this week at Martin Park. My Odyssey has autofocus, unlike my eVscope 2 last week. Sadly, the sunspots today were tiny. And could only see 3.
I will be there today, but like Brad, I cannot make it next week.
If someone wants to get the sign from me for next week, either grab it from me today, or I could bring it to the meeting on Friday and give it to you then. I’ll also give you some cards for handing out.
