OKCAC Member Nights at CRO 2023

I’ll be in Boerne, TX. I hope you get some good images of the partial at CRO!

@DaveNH6SM
Yeah, not enough cash to travel far lol. So I’ll do the best I can and go to CRO :+1::grin:

@Mitche
No thank you! Know Michelle, she’ll have me a cooler filled for the day lol.

For solar observing, I don’t think you have to worry about light pollution… Just sayin.

I plan to go out, but I’m not bringing anything. I can help run the C14 or help anyone with their gear!

Jaxon

CRO is open and getting mowed. Heading out now for dinner.

OMW to Swadley’s El Reno.

LOL, forget to send this at 2:30 :rofl: :rofl:

Nice out today, light clouds and even lighter winds at the moment.

Mowing is now done, just the bare basics anyways. :grin:

Im going to try and come out tonight.

We had a great night tonight! We had 5 members and 3 guests that came out to enjoy the near perfect skies! No dew, light winds, cool temps; definitely needed a jacket after dark.

It was clear until about 2230 or so. A cloud bank started moving across the sky and most folks left. At 2330 it was crystal clear again! I’m the last and I’ll be here maybe another hour or less. Finishing up a couple of observations.

Thanks Joel, for mowing this afternoon! The area looks great!

Thanks Dave, Jaxon and Marv for running the 14” tonight! Our visitors were very impressed with it!

Clear skies wind out of the north end a little chilly. Dress warm!

I will not make it out tonight. A bit too tired from cleaning and the eclipse.

Good luck out there! Thanks for opening it up Joel!

I think I’ll have to skip tonight.

Had 12 neighbors and friends at my house for a neighborhood eclipse viewing this morning. C8 on AVX, and 102AZ on slo-mo mount. Couple of potential club members got excited! We’ll see.

I’m pretty tired after putting it all away. Enjoy the great skies out there!

No worries guys, just hanging with the cows. if no one shows, i’ll head home early if I am not having too much fun, lol.

Hope it went well last night, Joel!

CANCELLED! The forecasts call for increasing clouds at sunset, and no one has indicated they want to go out, so I’m cancelling Member Night tonight.

The second member night at CRO in November is on Saturday, November 18.

Sunset is at 1725 (5:25pm). Nautical twilight begins at 1750. Astronomical twilight begins at 1820. Twilight ends and true night begins at 1850.

The moon sets at 2227 (10:27PM) and is a Waxing Crescent (27.8%).

Check the weather forecasts and check back here to ensure it will be good viewing weather and CRO will be open.

If anyone is coming that can open the 14” or 30” scopes, please post on here that you will be attending and it will be open.

If you’re planning to come out, please post on here that you are coming.

If you want to be guided to CRO, please post here and check back to see if a CRO member can meet and guide you. CRO members, please post what time you can meet any members needing guides. Please make arrangements to meet directly with whoever will be guiding you.

The location of the observatory is also now searchable in both Google Maps and Apple Maps. Search for Cheddar Ranch Observatory, Watonga, OK, and it should appear and give you directions if you want. It might also appear in your GPS app/program.

Clear and dark skies!

Would like to attend, weather permitting. Waiting on my M48 adapter for my Canon to attach to my 62ED that should be here this week.

I’m planning on coming out. We should have a M48 adapter to use if you don’t get it in time. I have a Canon t3i and there is also a Club T3i that is modified out at CRO.

Not sure I’ll be at any CRO events, the rest of the year. But I certainly will make the attempts! Hope everyone has a great time out there.
