My name is James Robb. I am an 8th grade science teacher at Brink Junior High (Moore Public Schools). I am planning on inviting my students to attend your First Friday Public Observing Night at Arbor Gardens on Friday, December 5. I hope it is okay if we join in on the star and night sky gazing fun. My students and I will be monitoring the viewing conditions leading up to Friday evening. Here’s hoping for some clear skies. Thank you.

Hey James! Sure! All are welcome at our First Friday Public Observing Night! It officially starts at 7pm, but someone from the club is usually there much earlier than that.

The forecast right now is for clear skies and low winds! The temperature will be chilly, probably in the 40s, and we always urge people to dress for 20 degrees colder than the actual temperature is. We don’t move around much when observing the universe so don’t get any warmth from exercise.

It should be great viewing! Even if the forecasts change, unless it’s raining, snowing or drops down below freezing, someone will be at the park. I’m looking forward to it!

Hello again, Mr. Robb (@jamesrobb). I believe that club member, @Ed_Averyt and I supported a viewing event for your students on property at Brink Jr. High a few years ago. I look forward to this similar opportunity again this week.

p.s., My daughter-in-law, Jessica Graham is a STEAM instructor @ Brink. Let her know that are a pacesetter in this respect!

Hey, Tom! You did! James and his enthusiastic students also came to the First Friday event last March. There were lots of students and their families! I invited them back any First Friday night so they could enjoy how the sky changes with the seasons, I’ll send notices to our Norman observing group. I hope the skies cooperate. James knows to monitor this post but I have a way to text him should there be any changes due to weather!

So far, it’s a go! Still predicting clear, calm, albeit very chilly weather. Perfect observing conditions!

I plan to attend and bring a scope.

I’m going to try and get there around 5pm. It looks like fog will be moving in later. Just bringing my SeeStar S50.

I should be there by about 6 or so.

I am planning on being there by 530 or so… Thinking about going to Vans Pig Stand in Moore for BBQ prior to Arbor Gardens. All are welcome to join.

It looks like clouds will start moving in around 7:30-8. I urge all the school groups to get there by at least 7. Earlier will be fine. We should have some scopes set up by sunset or shortly thereafter.

Jim, Bill, and Dave are here. Everything looking good

It was almost completely cloudy when we got there. Nobody was even going to set up. But then it started clearing, and it turned out to be great! We had lots of students and parents. I’d guess 30 or so. Got cloudy again around 9 so we closed down.

Another great First Friday! They’re really picking up!

Thanks to all the club members who came out to support it! We all stayed busy with the kids!

FYI, I’m going to change the start time to 6:30 during the winter months.

Here’s my (Seestar S30) takeaway photo, with AI Denoise, right out of the scope / camera … 3110 seconds / ~52 minutes

**It was fun doing side by side comparisons with Dave & his S50. Thank you, @DaveNH6SM, for the additional tips & tricks I hadn’t discovered on the Seestar app
