Definitely, reminds me of a time I accidentally setup my tent in a wash😱
We ended up having 6 members. It stayed mostly clear and a bit cool. We had 4 telescopes setup. I think we only had about 4 visitors.
My thanks to everyone who was there last night!
It cleared off and the wind died down and was a perfect night for viewing
The forecasts are not good for our Frist Friday Public Observing Night in June, but stay tuned. that could easily change before Friday.
I’m cancelling First Friday Public Observing Night for tomorrow, 6 June.
Forecasts on my apps, TV weather, and the NWS all say we’re going to have the same weather tomorrow night as we have right now. And I’ve got thunder and rain at my house right now.
Please come support Sally’s Night after our club meeting at SMO next Friday! And hopefully we’ll have better weather next month!
Also consider helping Camp Claphans at the JD McCarthy Center in Norman on Monday evenings this month!
Late morning/early afternoon here in Moore, America… It looks to be a gorgeous day, sun is out, blue skies over head, birds chirping… GORGEOUS! But as we all know that can change quickly here in Oklahoma. If the weather holds out I am going to Arbor Gardens tonight. Anyone else can come out if they wish… may not be an “official “ event this time around, but we can make the most of it… IF we get a clear sky. Fingers crossed!
I would love to, but so far I see rain and thunderstorms for tonight. Fingers crossed nothing. If so, I might be out there. Been cooped up in the hospital for a week and a half.
Thanks Jim, for heading over there. But while the afternoon is looking good, all I’m seeing is clouds and possible thunderstorms this evening.
Okay, just looked again and it lookes like it may be partly/mostly cloudy between 8-10, so hopefully you’ll be able to see something! But I think I’m going to leave it officially canceled.
Didn’t know you’d been in the hosipital Bobbie! I’m glad you’re better now!
Yeah… I think you are right! I am not as optimistic as I was earlier. Nevertheless, i will be there if it looks do-able at all. Not a big deal for me… I’m only 5 minutes away from the place. It was a good call canceling the event, so that people all the way across town aren’t trying to make it out there.
Sure hope you feel better soon Ms.Frizzle
Currently at Arbor Gardens… Estimate 85-90% overcast skies, will probably only stick around til 8 or so to see if anything starts to clear… oh well, maybe next month…
Yeah I had thought about driving over but saw the clouds rolling in.
Next month!
I hate canceling, but always glad when I get it right.
Thanks, Jim, for going to the park in case anyone showed up!
Jim, just out of curiosity, did anyone show up?
A few people were out there… some kids… parents… older folks. Nobody that I could tell, was actually there to see the Astronomy club. Would some of those people have come over and asked questions if there had been a group of us there??? Maybe…
I set up for a little while, got some moon pics in between the clouds. No one was curious enough to come over and bother the weird, single guy, standing alone in the park, starring up at the sky.
July 4th. Forecasts are for partly cloudy with moderate winds. But it’s a holiday so we might get more folks in the park.
Are any club members interested and available to set up for this tonight?
All the regular attendees I’ve been able to contact have other plans for tonight, so I don’t have anyone who indicated they’ll be at Arbor Garden tonight. Plus the viewing will be marginal at best.
So I’m going to cancel this here and on the calendar.
Oh, I thought it was tomorrow on the calendar!
