First Friday at Arbor Gardens Nov 6th

The next First Friday Public Viewing Night is at 1900, September 4, at Arbor Gardens Park in Moore.

Sunset will be at 1952; the moon sets before sunset.

The forecast is for clear skies, Temps will be in the 80s. Winds will be moderate. It should be a great evening for viewing the night skies!

Please post on here if you are planning to attend.

I have family coming in this weekend. I don’t know we may stop by.

The weather looks good, as of this am. I will try to make it to Arbor Gardens (with OU game on the radio).

I’m planning to come out as well

I should get there around 1900.

I plan to participate.

Everyone keep in mind that tonight is the season opener first home game for OU football. Traffic could be a problem.

Not much traffic here.

There were a couple of clouds when I got here, but clear now. A bit breezy.

We were too tired, but they seem like they’d like to go to cro tomorrow

Not much traffic huh? Here’s Mitche giving his talk to a group of about 12 or so. Some were out of shot too.

That’s fantastic!

Still one family here, but most have left. Lots of kids and bedtime was approaching. We’re estimating at least 20-25 visitors tonight. A great night !

Thanks to Gerald, Jim, Joel and Casey for supporting this tonight!

It was a nice event and I grabbed this photo of the Dumbell Nebula with the S50 (touched up on my phone).

Hi there, I haven’t been to an event before. I’m looking to bring around 8 space-interested teenagers to the next event First Friday. Do I need to tell them anything other than the time/place and to stay with their parent/responsible adult, dress appropriately for the weather, and be nice to the awesome volunteers?

That sounds about right. Be sure to check this thread in case the event is cancelled (weather).

I bring groups out from my club. Make sure they know not to touch people’s scopes without permission. I always emphasize that.

In October, we’ll have TWO First Friday Public Observing locations on Oct 2!

We’ll have our usual event at Arbor Gardens Park in Moore, PLUS we’ll have a simultaneous event at the Paseo Art District in OKC.

Both will run from 7-10pm.

We’re asking members on the south side to support the Arbor Gardens event. If you live on the north side, we recommend supporting the Paseo event.

At Paseo, we’ll be setting up on the grass across the road to the east of the central island. We can also set up on the island itself, where we set up in years past.

We should have a couple of reserved parking places near where we set up. But I recommend arriving as early as 5:30-6, if you can come that early, to ensure you can park close by. If you do arrive early, you don’t have to set up immediately. Come hungry and join several of us at Sauced Pizza around the curve from where we set up.

Please post on here if you can support one of the events. I will be going to Paseo this time and plan to arrive early to get some pizza at Sauced.

Also, please check back here, and/or the club calendar, before you leave home, to ensure we haven’t had to cancel the event!

A post was merged into an existing topic: First Friday Public Observing Night at PASEO!

I’m south side but have a conflict for next Friday. High school football around the corner at Southmoore.
