All Members Nights at CRO

Thanks Marv!

And just to update anyone who’s thinking about coming out, I do not have observatory training, so that won’t be open-- just the gate and the building. So make sure to bring your binoculars and telescopes.

It appears I will FINALLY get back out to CRO - think it’s been about a year since I was last there!

I have no idea what I’m going to be doing tonight (aside from trying to remember how to use all the software again!) but assuming everything still works and I can figure out what I’m doing with it my plan is to stay until morning.

I hope to get there around 5:30, so I can be set up before dark.

Welcome back!! Pondered sending out the dogs for you! Glad to have you back!

Enjoy!!

Welcome back @RandomJoe! Several of us are doing an event at Black Mesa State Park tonight. Tell me what you’re planning to image and I’ll see if I can get at least a short image of it and we can compare.

I don’t have any plans yet. The obvious options are Andromeda galaxy, Pleiades and (later on) something in Orion. May have a scroll around the sky in Stellarium once I’m set up and see if anything else piques my interest. I’m primarily interested in just enjoying a night in the middle of nowhere again at this point…

I am packing … well … light for me, anyway… Just taking the ED102 and Canon DSLR.

I posted an image I got of Andromeda in the OTSP updates topic. It was gorgeous here!

CRO is open, the wind is dying down, and the skies are clear :+1: Lovely view of Venus next to a waxing crescent moon in the sunset

I hope you had a great night at CRO. It was perfect at BMSP. And we had 30 or more folks stop by to learn and look at the stars!

We did, thanks Mitche! Despite the warm day we had a cool breeze pretty quickly after sunset. Glad to hear you all had such excellent weather at Okie-Tex and an extra night at Black Mesa, too.

My wife and I got to meet Joe, Sarah & Dustin, Drew, and Mike. Joe and I each put in a few hours of exposure on Andromeda. Sarah used her camera to capture the Milky Way and the lovely sunset with the Moon & Venus, Drew used his camera to put in some manual tracking on Cygnus & the North American nebula, and Mike was trying out his new EAA telescope.

Thanks for opening and for your report, Will! Glad you had such a good turnout on a great night!

Joe beat me to opening up, but I was glad to be there and meet all those fine club members.

OKCAC Member night at CRO on Saturday, Oct 26th.

Sunset is at 6:44pm and the moon rises at 3:22am.

If you’re planning to come out, please post on here that you are going. We need at least 1 CRO member to open things up.

I will not be going out this Saturday. Might make it out next Saturday.

This will be a good time to check out the Comet C/2023 A3 (Tsuchinshan-ATLAS) it sets at 10:57pm. The Blaze Star is still up until 10:36pm.

My husband Jim and I will be attending Member night at CRO, Oct. 26, 2024. It will be our first time out there. I have it in my GPS. We can’t arrive until 7:30 PM. So look forward to it.

I will be heading out to CRO this Saturday. Not sure when I’ll have it open. If it needs mowing, I’ll go out mid afternoon.

I’ll be coming out to CRO tomorrow, too. Probably arrive about 6:15. I’ll open the C14 for members.

I’m going out also. Probably be there from around 630-12.

I should be out as well. Looks to nice and cool and good seeing conditions too.

I’m planning on coming out tomorrow for the first time. I’ve been a member for a while but haven’t been very active (yet). Looking forward to meeting some new folks!

Hello! I am brand new here and will be attending the observation Saturday the 26th since I am interested in possibly joining the club. Any advice on some items to bring that may not be obvious to first timers? Thanks, and I look forward to getting out there!

My wife and I are planning to go out to CRO for the first time on Saturday. We’ll aim to arrive in the late afternoon.
