All Members Nights at CRO

Planning on going to Swadley’s in El Reno for dinner around 4:00pm, leave around 4:30pm and get to CRO about 5:15pm. The weather is looking great for tomorrow.

I know this is late, but I use my experience in this group constantly for my classes! I’m an astrophysics student in my starting years.

Good afternoon. I plan go come out tonight. Will try to meet at Swadleys today. Happy star hunting. :star2:

I’ll come out for some good astro time. Arrive about 5:30.

Hopefully get more experience with the 30".

Unfortunately my plans have to change and I will be traveling today. I hope you all have a great evening!

CRO is open! Clear skies all around!

CRO is closed. Skies are still very clear. I think we had 7 members there tonight. The dome opened perfectly and the 30” telescope worked great. Venus was a nice crescent.

It was a beautiful night! Clear seeing. Transparency very good. We looked at planets, Orion Nebula. All 6 stars in the Trapezium were visible. Tried to split Sirius, but couldn’t quite make out the “Pup”. Open clusters were very bright.
Everyone had an excellent opportunity to see the 30" in action!

It was on my calendar but I completely spaced out on All Members Night last night. As my throat is still a bit scratchy, maybe that was for the best.

I just finished about 10 science observations of supernovas from my backyard. It was a superb night for viewing here. (As was last night!)

I’m sorry I missed it at the observatory! Glad everyone who made it had a good evening!

You were missed, Mitche!

Hope you can make the next one this Saturday, March 1. Weather looks good, so far.

I’ll be able to open and run the C14.

Are my spouse and I able to come to Cheddar Ranch tonight to observe? We’re going to be heading that way soon

nevermind, I see that you guys will be there this saturday. Would we be allowed to head up there this saturday?

@ZoeB
Hello and welcome. Cheddar Ranch Observatory is open to regular club members and their invited guests on Saturdays surrounding the New Moon. You and your spouse would be welcomed as guests this Saturday, 3/1/25.

Please come and see the observatory the club provides to members. We hope you’ll join, of course. But you are very welcome to see the facilty and experience the night sky. Hopefully viewing will be possible through our Celestron Edge 14" Schmidt Cassagain in our rolloff roof observatory.

All Members Night at CRO, tomorrow 1 Mar, is looking great right now! The forecast is clear, mild to moderate winds, and temps in the mid 50s! (Remember to dress for 20° colder!)

I’m hoping to be there tomorrow, but if I’m not, Marv said he’ll open CRO tomorrow if another member doesn’t beat him to it. Hopefully we’ll have folks there to run both the 14” and 30” scopes.

Sunset is at 1828. Full dark at 1954. It’s a new moon that sets at 1932.

Please check tomorrow to see when someone will have the gate open. I’m not sure when, or if, I’ll be able to make it tomorrow. I have family in town and not sure of my plans tomorrow. But I hope I’ll be able to make it.

This will be the last All Members Night on Standard Time. We change to Daylight Savings time next week. Enjoy being able to get a lot of viewing in without having to be up half the night!

Yup, I’ll open CRO at 5:30 or so, unless another CRO member gets there before me. I’ll open the C14 observatory, as well, making it available for all member’s viewing pleasure. Can’t promise that the 30" will be available, though.

Dress warmly, as the windchill could be biting out of the North East.

Clear skies!!

I should be able to make it tomorrow night. I’ll be at Swadley’s in El Reno about 4 for a late lunch or early dinner. I’ll be there until about 4:30 when I’ll leave for CRO.

If anyone wants to join me to eat, or wants a guide to CRO, meet me there.

We might come get lunch/dinner with you and head out, so we can kind of follow you. If that’s okay, that is. I finally stopped procrastinating on my Calculus enough to make some time to go. Haha.

The more the merrier!

If available, I sit at the bigger tables along the east wall near the exit.

Looks like Ill be out tonight. Such a great looking looking night. Not sure about dinner but will try.

I’m going to give it a whirl. Cya around 4 @ Swadley’s.
