Did anyone notice a blue Afghanistan War ball cap at CRO last night? I was wearing it when I changed clothes in the libaray, but I can’t find it in my car or in any of the bags from last night. I’m hoping it didn’t fall out of the bag between the building and my car. If it did, it’s probably in Kansas by not. Or hung up on a barbed wire fence somewhere.

Yes, sir, I was imaging IC 5146 (Cocoon Nebula in Cygnus constellation). I was rather surprised how well things turned out, especially the color. The image was denoised a little, but I’m rather pleased with Seestar S50 performance.

It was great getting out to do a bit of maintenance and run the 30 in (Kirkpatrick) Telescope!
The crowd was much better than I expected, but really, the wind was not that bad compared to some nights out at CRO. 
Someone even managed to put up a drone to take some purely recreational video:

All lock and WiFi codes have been changed.
Air and water filters also swapped out. Thanks to Admiral Marv for the help with that.

Thanks. If it doesn’t, no biggie. Was getting dirty and ball caps are never the same after washing them. I’ll look for another one the next time I’m at the VA Hospital. I like to buy from the vendors they have in there. Usually they’re disabled vets.

This Saturday’s (July 26) forecast looks almost the same as last week. IWO, it should be a great night! The wind might be a bit less, which is good.
Sunset is at 2043. The Moon sets at 2107, but is a new moon anyway, so no moon. Great for viewing! Especially the Milky Way!
I will either not make it Saturday, or make it very late. If another CRO member can open, please post on here that you’re doing so, and approximately what time.
If anyone finds my blue ball cap, just put it on the counter, or bring it back to town and let me know and I’ll pick it up from you. Thanks!

NON-CRO MEMBERS:
So far, no one has indicated they’ll open CRO tomorrow evening. Please check back here before you drive all the way out there to ensure that someone has posted they are going to open it for you! We do not want you driving out to CRO to find the gate locked and no one there!
CRO MEMBERS: I hope one of you will volunteer to open the observatory for our non-CRO members! Please post on here if you can open it tomorrow evening, and post when you will have it open.
I am planning to arrive early (around 2 PM I think) to start working on getting the 30in mirror cleaned.
I should have a helper with me, but the mirror is about 110 Lbs, and will need to be carefully lifted out of the mirror cell of the 30in (after upper cell and truss removal) and will need to be moved out of the dome for cleaning. It is ideally a 4 person job. We could use two more able bodied folks to help if anyone can make it out. It will take an hour or so to get ready to move the actual mirror, so between 3 and 4PM tentatively.
I will send out an update tomorrow.

If anyone can be there early to help him, please do so! I was there when we installed the scope and I remember how heavy that mirror is! It’s a very expensive mirror and more hands to help lift will ensure it’s well being!
