All Members Nights at CRO 2025

I have to take my kiddo to a holiday shindig for one of his clubs tonight but we hope to come out on the 20th.

CRO is open. Marv is here also. Unfortunately the clouds are moving in so currently not worth it to come out. We will probably not be staying long. Leaving some leftover candy from the Christmas party in the refrigerator.

I have officially cancelled tonight on the calendar.

Thanks for opening it and trying! But it just goes to show how fast conditions can change, and how all the weather predictions are just best guesses.

The forecast is still good for next week, but we’ll see.

CRO is closed.

Thanks for letting us know! Hopefully I can make the next event. Have a great rest of your weekend!

Looks pretty good for Saturday, 12/20. Could be a few clouds, but the temperatures look livable.

Hope we get some new members out to tour and view. The 14" is a given. The 30" depends on expert attendance.

I’ll be out 1/2 hour before sunset,

Plans have changed and I’m not able to be there tomorrow.

Sunset is at 1724, and the moon sets just after that at 1749. Not that’s there that much to set at 0.6% illumination. So it should be very dark!

The forecasts are for mostly clear to partly cloudy; temps will be in the high 40s; and the wind will be brisk at 10-15mph. If you go out, dress appropriately! The wind chill will be in the high 30s.

Be sure and look for 3I ATLAS (C/2025 N1) tomorrow night! I caught it last night, near it’s closest approach to earth, with my eVscopes. But it’s visual magnitude last night was 15.4. It’s going to be hard to see without imaging.

Right after sunset, look for Comet C/2024 E1 (Wierzchos) low in the west. It’s at 9.6 magnitude in the constellation of Sagittarius. It will be easier to see.

The Pleiades will be very visible tomorrow. It’s one of my favorite DSOs. I could look at it for hours.

If you need some guidance on what to see when you go out, check out this resource: https://theskylive.com/guide

Thanks, Mitche!

Jessica and her Dad, Dru and Bill Farrer are all out huddled on pads with their astrophotography gear. I’m staying warm in the building. May open the C14, may not.

So I’ve opened the rolloff roof so the intrepid imagers can have shelter out of the wind. Dru and Jessica are setting up.

Good plan. I’ve done that a few times.

CRO is closed. 3 CRO members, Bill, Dru and Marv. Member, Jessica and her Dad.

Clouds moving in. Imagers are finishing up. The skies were very beautiful, while it lasted. Good conversations and learning took place. Thanks Jessica and father for the snack tray!

Unbelievably, yes. Very surprising and sad for us Packer fans!
